While the main efforts of the Moldovan Tennis Federation were focused on hosting the biggest sporting events of the year – the opening of the National Tennis Center and the ATP Challenger 100 Moldova international tournament Open , on Tennis courts Plus Country The Club in Vadul-lui-Voda hosted the traditional series of international junior competitions Biotehnos throughout May. In five weeks, four major international tournaments took place here: Tennis Europe U12, Tennis Europe U14 and two ITF J30 tournaments. In total, more than 380 athletes from dozens of European and international countries participated.
Tennis tournament Europe Biotechnos Series The U12 Cup , held from May 4 to 10, featured 76 young tennis players from Moldova, Israel, Ukraine, Greece, and Ireland. Moldovan athletes performed particularly well. Nour won the girls’ singles tournament. Andreea , who confirmed her status as one of the country’s strongest tennis players in her age category, won the doubles title. Tennis tournament took place from May 11 to 17 Europe Biotechnos Series The U14 Cup attracted 79 participants. In the singles competition, the Moldovan players failed to secure a medal, but in the doubles, Kolbasiuc and Zanoci showed excellent results , reaching the final and winning silver after a tough battle in the final match.
The series featured two ITF J30 tournaments, held from May 19 to 24 and May 25 to 31. The first tournament featured 110 players, while the second attracted over 120 players. The participants were extremely diverse. In addition to representatives from European countries, tennis players from China came to Moldova for the first time.
According to the competition’s chief judge, Oleg Ivashko, the tournament’s level was one of the highest in recent years.
“Honestly, I don’t remember so many three-set matches. The competition was very intense in almost every round. One of the top-seeded players, after losing his opening match, admitted he’d come to Moldova for an easy win, but after the qualifying matches, he realized how strong the field was,” Ivashko noted.
Moldovan tennis players performed particularly well at ITF tournaments. Among the best were Ramina Hîncu , Natalia Drobco and Eva Iurina .
The second ITF J30 tournament saw the Moldovan semi-final between Ramina Hîncu and Natalia Drobco . Hîncu reached the final, where she lost to Romania’s Elisa. Cucu .
Eva’s results deserve special mention. Iurina in doubles. She won both ITF J30 tournaments. In her first tournament, she partnered with Ukrainian tennis player Nicole Negru , and in the second, the title was won in a pair with the representative of Moldova, Ramina Hîncu .
