Moldova’s women’s team successfully competed in the Billie Jean King Cup, while the men’s team earned promotion to Davis Cup Europe Group II. As a result, both teams advanced one level in the international tennis hierarchy and will compete against stronger opposition next season.

In his address, Dan Perciun congratulated the athletes on their excellent results and thanked them for proudly representing the Republic of Moldova on the international stage.

The Minister also praised the outstanding organization of the Davis Cup competition held in Chișinău, highlighting the quality of the infrastructure at the National Tennis Centre, which has already hosted major international events and received high praise from participants and officials alike.

Federation President Ceslav Ciuhrii thanked the players, coaches and support staff who worked with the teams throughout the season.

“Today’s achievements are the result of the tremendous efforts of the athletes, coaches, parents and the entire Federation team. We can see Moldovan tennis continuing to develop, and we will do everything possible to ensure this progress continues year after year,” said Ceslav Ciuhrii.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of commemorative plaques, flowers and financial grants to the athletes in recognition of their contribution to the success of the national teams.

The event became not only an occasion to celebrate recent achievements, but also another confirmation that Moldovan tennis is moving confidently forward. New infrastructure, a growing number of international tournaments and the successful performances of the national teams provide a solid foundation for future victories and accomplishments.

At the end of the ceremony, the team of the National Tennis Federation of Moldova presented Ceslav Ciuhrii with the ATP Challenger Moldova Open champions’ trophy. The names of the 2025 and 2026 winners, France’s Clément Chidekh and Greece’s Stefanos Sakellaridis, have already been engraved on it. The trophy will be permanently displayed at the National Tennis Centre of Moldova and will be updated each year with the names of new champions. Ceslav Ciuhrii expressed his confidence that one day the name of a Moldovan tennis player will also appear on this trophy.
