Moldova has officially been granted the right to host the Davis Cup Europe Group III tournament in 2026.
The decision was made by the Davis Cup Committee, which appointed the National Tennis Federation of Moldova as the organizer of the competition. The tournament will take place in Chișinău at the National Tennis Center courts in Satul German from June 8 to June 12.
Eight national teams will participate in the competition:
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ireland, Kosovo, Latvia, Moldova, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
Tournament format:
— 2 groups of 4 teams
— matches played on four courts
— each match consists of two singles and one doubles
The top three teams at the end of the tournament will be promoted and will compete in Group II in 2027.
Organizing such a tournament is a serious task:
— at least 4 match courts and 2 practice courts are used
— more than 20 referees and 26 ball boys
— live scoring and match broadcasts are mandatory
— participation of eight national teams
The ITF separately noted its confidence that Moldova will be able to host the tournament at a high level — especially considering the launch of the new National Tennis Center.
In fact, this is not just a competition, but an important step in positioning the country in international sport. For one week, Chișinău will become a focal point for European team tennis.
