On June 10, the official opening ceremony of the Davis Cup Europe Group III tournament took place on the Centre Court of the National Tennis Center in Chișinău.

All eight participating national teams took part in the event and will compete over the coming days for promotion to Davis Cup Europe Group II. During the official parade, the teams entered the Centre Court together with their captains, representing Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ireland, Kosovo, Latvia, Moldova, Montenegro and North Macedonia.

The participants and guests were welcomed by the President of the National Tennis Federation of Moldova, Ceslav Ciuhrii, and the Federation’s Secretary General, Natalia Belibova, who wished the players fair competition, exciting matches and success on the courts of the National Tennis Center.

During the ceremony, the national anthems of all participating countries were played. The tournament’s Chief Referee, Javier Perez, was also present at the opening ceremony and observed the proceedings.

Following the official ceremony, the tournament moved into competitive action. Over the next four days, the eight national teams will compete for three promotion spots to Europe Group II for the 2027 season.

For Moldova, this tournament carries special significance. It is the first time that Davis Cup matches are being held at the new National Tennis Center, which recently hosted the ATP Challenger 100 Moldova Open and continues to strengthen the country’s position as one of the region’s emerging centers of international tennis.

Team Moldova is competing on home soil with Radu Albot, Ilya Snitari, Mathys Braun and Andrei Gorban under the leadership of captain Andrei Chumac.

Davis Cup Europe Group III matches are being played from June 10 to 13 at the National Tennis Center in Chișinău. Admission is free for all spectators.
